Our cast (ductile) iron grates are supplied with a black, water-based coating as standard.

Important note: Cast iron is a natural material. Over time, exposure to the elements causes a thin layer of iron oxide to form. This changes the appearance, and the originally black surface takes on a brownish-reddish patina.

Coatings such as KTL can only slow down this process, but cannot prevent it permanently. Oxidation is a natural process that does not affect the quality, stability or service life of the product.

If required, the gratings can also be coated locally with bitumen or epoxy to meet specific regional requirements.

If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact our customer service team.
