SILLPARK SHOPPING CENTER

Only the best

Nowadays, shopping centers are modern, vibrant urban spaces offering a wealth of experiences. The way customers arrive at the center adds a lot to the overall impression. The recently renovated underground parking garage at the SILLPARK Shopping Center in Innsbruck provides wide parking spaces, a bright, inviting architecture and state-of-the-art technology to enable the perfect shopping experience.

A client with high standards
The SES Spar European Shopping Centers GmbH operates around 30 shopping locations and is specialized in high-quality, spacious retail property. This applies to the company’s operations but also to the development and management as well as marketing to investors. When it comes to new construction or renovation, the company relies on state-of-the-art technology and sustainable building. They have the highest quality expectations regarding their own product as well as other crafts – and it is their constant goal to provide an exceptional shopping experience to their customers.

A pleasant arrival: The parking garage
The new underground parking garage at the SILLPARK is bright and inviting and offers especially wide parking spaces. The operator’s high expectations regarding quality building and ambience is immediately visible and continues throughout all parking levels.

Exactly right: BG-FILCOTEN parkline
The BG-FILCOTEN parkline channel perfectly underlines this concept with regard to the aspect of drainage. The channel and grating cast in one piece enable a perfect driving experience. BG-FILCOTEN parkline is also perfectly suited for busy foot traffic. The project was supervised by Robert Eder, technical support at BG-Graspointner:

There was minimal noise emission. “There was minimal noise emission. With a slot width of 12.5 millimeters, the channel is also easily accessible for wheelchairs (standard wheel width: 37 mm).”

The subtle look of the new channel is an additional advantage. BG-FILCOTEN parkline seamlessly integrates into the modern architecture of the underground parking garage.

SES is all about sustainability
Sustainability is especially important to SES. That’s why the FILCOTEN HPC channel is just right for the project. The FILCOTEN HPC (High Performance Concrete) material is made from mineral raw material and is 100 % recyclable. The material is produced exclusively with green electricity and is free from resins and dissolvents. This makes it possible to build drainage channels with lightweight construction that preserve resources while achieving the same stability and load capacity as common concrete systems. Thanks to their verified environmental performance evaluation according to ISO 14040/14044 and EN 15804, the BG-FILCOTEN channels also set an example with regard to environmental friendliness.

Constructing for the future
Sustainability also includes durable buildings. The longer the expected useful life, the better. BG-FILCOTEN parkline was able to meet these demands. The FILCOTEN HPC material is corrosion-free and lasts approx. three times longer than stainless steel solutions. A new structure also adds to the durability of the parking garage. The layers of the individual levels have been planned and constructed as follows: reinforced concrete, high-performance bonded screed and sealing as well as a wearing surface made from synthetic resin to protect the overall structure from exposure to de-icing salt.

What is sustainable planning?
Bernard Ingenieure (www.bernard-ing.com) – a leading engineering company in Austria – was put in charge of retrofitting the concrete. They decided to hand over the detailed planning to architect Siegfried Hybner (nachhaltig-planen.at), a specialist in sustainable projects. Hybner is aware of the inflationary use of the term sustainability, but he also knows what it really means and how to implement it into his everyday work.

“To me, sustainable planning means that the standard solution isn’t always the most fitting. It’s better to think about what is best for a project.”

According to him, it is much more important to take a step back to assess the conditions and the demands first, followed by finding sustainable solutions. This means: being open to new ideas, questioning the status quo, etc. This also explains the switch from tarmac to a synthetic resin sealing and the focus on long-lasting usability throughout this project.

The three levels of sustainability
According to Hybner, sustainable planning involves three levels:

All of the people involved must start the project with high-quality renovation in mind

This involves suitable, high-quality products

And professional execution

It makes sense to think about waste disposal right from the start of the project. A material that is 100 percent recyclable has a clear advantage.

BG-Graspointner is the perfect partner for my idea of sustainable planning. FILCOTEN HPC is a premium quality material designed for long-lasting usability. It comes with an exceptional adaptability and accuracy of fit.”

Hybner was impressed by BG-Graspointner’s philosophy that corresponds to his standard of sustainable construction.

We’re glad to hear that.
